CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER (DESIGNATE)

The Office of the Police Ombudsman is to be formally established under
Part 5 of the new Policing Security and Community Safety Bill **Apply

The Bill provides that, on commencement, the Garda Síochána
Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) will continue its operation with
additional remit but will now be known as the Office of the Police
Ombudsman.

Candidates are being sought for the position of Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) of the Office of the Police Ombudsman. The CEO will be
responsible for transforming the organisation, as detailed in the new
Policing, Security and Community Safety Bill. The CEO will support the
Ombudsman in the furtherance of the objectives and the performance of
the functions of the Ombudsman under the Police, Security and
Community Safety Bill *. The main functions of
the CEO will include implementing the policies and decisions of the
Police Ombudsman and carrying on and managing the staff,
administration and business of the Office of the Police Ombudsman.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL:

* Possess strong strategic leadership, people, organisational and
management skills which will inspire, motivate and develop people,
thus maximising capability and performance;
* Possess significant experience, at an appropriately senior level,
demonstrate evidence of experience at a senior level with direct
relevance to the Authority’s remit (for example, in a relevant
regulatory or professional environment);
* Possess experience of change management and the implementation of
organisational reform and the establishment and delivery of new
processes
* Demonstrate evidence of sound knowledge and application of
governance policies and processes in a complex environment with a
strong commitment to serving the public interest;
* Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and
relationship management skills and the capacity to influence and work
effectively with a broad range of stakeholders in a constructive
manner;
